15th March - James

On this day, we had a regular Swahili lesson with our teacher Juma. It was essential for us to learn some basic phrases and words to communicate with the locals.

After our lesson, we participated in a coral conservation project at Oceans Alive. Our task was to attach coral to coral stars, which would eventually grow into a beautiful coral reef. The team from the Ocean Trust showed us we could help. The project is sponsored by Mars / Sheba. They have restored the Hope reef in Indonesia with the same technique. We worked hard to ensure that the coral was firmly attached and in the right location for optimal growth.

Hugo, Sarah, and I stayed on after everyone else left and continued to work on the coral conservation project. We learned how to build the coral stars and took our time to make sure everything was perfect. It was an enlightening experience, and we felt proud to be making a positive impact on the environment.

Later in the day, we headed to the Vipingo Ridge Golf Club on the back of Patrick's pickup truck, singing along to 80s music as we drove through the villages. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the company of our friends.

After the golf club, we drove back home with Emily on the speaker, blaring "Murder on the Dance Floor." The upbeat music put us in a good mood, and we couldn't help but dance along.

Finally, we arrived home and went to bed, ready for the next day. It was a day filled with learning, conservation, and fun. We were grateful for the opportunity to participate in a meaningful project that could make a difference in the world. It was a day we would always remember, and we looked forward to the next adventure that awaited us in Kenya.
