17th March - Hugo
Friday the 17th of March was an early one… our first day of safari!!! We were up at 06:00 am to meet Chris and Janine (our safari guides).
Very quickly, we got on the road and headed to Croc Camp to see some crocodiles and some hippos!
After having lunch there (not crocodile or hippo, just a sandwich!) we headed off to Tsavo East National Park, our first camp.
On the way, most of us cycled 10km and some of us (Jake and James) cycled 20km.

Cycling was great fun, and luckily the roads were very smooth (that definitely made it a lot easier).
After getting to camp, we settled in, grabbed a few sundowners, and got back in the safari van! Surprisingly quickly, we came across a lion (see pictures below). We managed to get incredibly close to it which was amazing to experience!
Later on in the evening, after having a big supper, we went out to the watchtower and saw elephants, gazelles and lions having a drink!
We then all realised we were super tired, and headed to bed to prepare for our next day on safari!
