5th March - Anna
An early start for the campers this morning, for a quick brek and short drive to a nearby beach for a beach clean!!
It was a little squeezy squeezy on the drive, but NOTHING WE CANT HANDLE
When we got there we took a short walk to the beach where we met up with the rest of the group that had already got started. Adults from the charity and kids from the local communities. The members of the charity introduced themselves and told us a bit about what their charity is all about and it sounds excellent.
Their main issue is that the kids want to get involved but they cant always get the transport to get there. They divide the beach into three sections and today we were on the section called ‘long beach’. We ADORNED our gloves and sacks. Obviously also our gloves hats and sunglasses and SLATHERED in factor 50 (don’t worry parents we got you). The kiddies were bare feet without gloves and they left NO STONE UNTURNED so definitely set the standard high, and got started clearing plastic, glass etc from the beach with the locals.
- Trash highlights were definitely flip flops, condoms (oop! gnarly), lighters.
Me and one of the little boys absolutely plunged into the undergrowth. Janet, Hugo and I were at the back and were told off for being too slow, but we were being THOROUGH
We walked up then back long beach (so were very thorough) and then weighed all our bags.
Then they did the final reveal which was 180+kg of trash WOOOOOOOOO 🎉🎊👏🥂
(Side note: way more than the last group’s time even tho they had more people so we’re the best ever trash collectors ever). The charity were so welcoming and we were so grateful, and they invited us back again!
Then we jumped back in the bumpy van on the way back and all this was achieved before 10:30am (WELL DONE US and that is 7:30am UK time). We got back and jumped in the pool because GOODNESS we needed that we were HOT. REFRESHING. We played Marco Polo (where Sarah was literally like a some kinda missile, she needs to play professionally), a throwing and catching game, and also just chatted in the pool.
(Side note: they should make pools shallower than 5ft, asking for a friend). Major froggy granny fingers after.
We took a beach walk with Sharkey - the best 3 and a half legged dog ever (sorry to the other 3 and a half legged dogs in the world I’m sure you’re also good boys and girls). And the bad neighbour told her she was nasty which was a BIG no no in our books so we asap-eroonies sped away from her (no negative energy pls).
Dins which was GORGEOUS beans rice and chapattis (we love the chef) 10/10 everyone needs chapattis in their life ASANTE SANA. And then off to the little baby shop to grab some Tuskers (gorgeous again, a lot of us gals have been turned to the cider side). And watched my Octopus Teacher (an absolute rollercoaster of emotions). And then played cards. Janet got us to play a game where I swear she was making up a new rule every 10 seconds
And went to sleep (fans blasting and feeling very content with our lovely day)
Getting some good sleep before the week starts tomorrow -
BRING ON MONDAY WE’RE READY FOR YOU
