15th June - Daphne

This morning we had a quick start as we headed down to the beach to get started on the coral cleaning. Unfortunately we were a man down today as Charlie didn’t feel very well. However he was with us in spirit as we scrubbed the tables, cleaned the coral and made the cement plugs. After lunch we went into the village to build a jiko stove, luckily we had Juma with us who continues to show us he is a man of many talents. We would have seriously struggled without him. It was amazing to see how appreciative the villagers were of us building the stove for them. As a thank you they prepared coconuts for us, so we had coconut water and the meat to eat which was much needed and delicious. Then Jay and Leah took us to the market, Im and I defiantly went a bit nuts, as we frantically rummaged through clothes and attempted to drive prices down. Our haggling skills do need work though, but came away with a very successful haul. Overall it was a very productive and fun day, and everyone is looking forward to doing to Future Hope School tomorrow.
