29th June - Daphne
This morning we started off with a beach clean up at Popes, we got to work quickly and it was defiantly a successful first outing of the day.
We had a testing next few hours as we had a Swahili lesson with Juma, who was as always was exceptionally patient with our attempts at Swahili. However much we write in notes, we are still struggling.
After lunch we started our second fish lecture, where we were revising and learning about the different species we may see during snorkeling. Some of these fish included: Angel fish, Butterfly fish, the Moorish Idol and Anemonefish. There were a few others, but we are all gearing up for more fish to learn about and then the famous fish test. The pass mark is 90%, so it will be interesting to see whether we can rise to the occasion.
After a few lessons, we headed to the volleyball court where a very serious few games were played. We also brought the true British spirit to keep playing even when the weather took on a sour note.
Later on, after a good stint at the market where many purchases were made we revealed at habari what had been bought for one another. We have each bought a ridiculous t-shirt for our assigned person in the group, and these will be worn tomorrow on our Watamu night out. It’s fair to say that Watamu won’t know what’s hit them on Saturday night when we arrive.
