4th June 2023 - Imogen

Today was a quiet day, but a necessary one. We had what Janet likes to refer to as a ‘lie in’ and woke up at 8:30. I was greeted by a self-satisfied mosquito inside my net, and we headed to breakfast.

The weather, at this point, was cloudy - as was the general idea of how we might fill this final day of rest before the activity got started tomorrow. We enjoyed a lounge around the house, phoning home or lying by the pool. Some local children were using the indoor space for a lesson on local sustainability and greeted us with plenty of smiles.

After inhaling our lunch, the weather bucked up and it looked like the beach bar might be in order. Just in time for us to head off, our latest addition, the delightful Maddie, arrived in all her exhausted glory. She, being a trooper, grabbed all her stuff and headed to the beach bar with the rest of us. The walk over was, now, beautifully sunlit (in the blissful hindsight of not sweating out every drop of water in my body), and we were greeted by some pretty gorgeous smoothies on the shore.

It’s a hard life. The afternoon sun crept towards the horizon and we made our way back to the house. We had our supper and finished the day with some card games. All headed to bed, keen for the excitement to start tomorrow.
