7th June - Daphne

Once a filling breakfast was eaten in the morning, we headed off for a morning of orientation into all the different tasks we will be doing over the next 5 weeks.

We spoke to Katana (Father of the coral) who told us all about the coral restoration and walked us through the lengthy process. It made us all realise the commitment and love that everyone has here for the work Oceans Alive is doing.

Next we had a starter session for the community garden with Ocean Alice’s agronomist Leah. Bravely, a few of the group decided to try the home grown peppers. Although Tati, Jack and Sofia were reassured that they were ‘very mild’ it defiantly wasn’t the case. All three turned a couple shades pinker, which convinced the rest of us to give the peppers a pass.

Later on during our Swahili lesson, we were finally joined by Charlie and headed to Vipingo Ridge for pizza night. We gave all the games a good go, and will be returning to play tennis and golf. Also for the pizza as we all loved the 2 for 1 deal on yum pizzas!
