Monday - 24th July - Roxy
The week was started off with new activities for the whole group. in the morning 25Flow was led by Nash and Jay, where we learnt about the fascinating history of tribes in Kenya. This was shortly followed by some reeling by Xander and I’m happy to say our dancing skills and improving since the first time.
After lunch we were taught how to make the classic Kenyan chapati, which was delicious when, especially with some Nutella on top.
We then took on basket weaving, which I was utterly useless at, but most of the others seemed to have got the hang of it relatively quickly. After a jam packed day, everyone had a relaxed few hours before dinner.
Oceans Alive says:
Despite all the fun activities, Leapers yet tired while with us too. They will have a fun day off later on in the week where we take the pace right down so they can recharge for safari.
Activities such as basket weaving and chapati making are fun and educational and give Leapers an insight into daily life in Kenya. Our trainers are all Kenyans and it’s a really good way for the community to get involved (and earn some cash) in what we do.
25Flow is a new activity in the schedule which gives Leapers a chance to find out more about Kenya, from Kenyans, and learn a bit about culture and history at the same time. The whole concept of ‘tribe’ was interesting for the whole group and led to some great discussions.
