In the morning we contributed in a village clean up that the local community group organise that Juma is a member of. There was a lot of rubbish to pick up. However the villagers were very grateful and many of the kids joined us along the way. Although it was boiling in the morning the minute we got back to Popes there was torrential rain which was a lot of fun!
After the rain had subsided, all of us went to Vipingo ridge to chill, play foosball and golf and eat. Very chill and relaxing day after a week full of amazing activities.
Oceans Alive says:-
How could we say no when our trusted and much valued head of Maintenance, Juma, asked us to help with a village clean up. Juma does so much for us at Pope - way above and beyond - and so we have to give back where we can. Supporting his newly formed CBO - community based organisation - was easy. We pulled on our gloves, grabbed a bin bag and went through the village picking up plastic waste. The CBO then sorted through the detritus and it was taken away for proper disposal. It’s really good for everyone when the Leapers are seen helping in the community and sends a really positive message that Leapers are not only here to have fun.
