Wednesday 18th October - Jack

Today was water appreciation round two and after the massive effort last week, the team was determined to better it. We headed to a different area of Shariani ready to fill Mtungis for the village. After some rousing words from Ed and Shae, the target was set at three figures and Nico started off on the pump. As the Mtungis kept on arriving, each of the team headed towards a quota of 10 filled per person. After much sweat and determination, the final tally stood at 106 Mtungis filled. Thats over 2000 litres of water delivered and 2 tonnes of water carried, with Georgina putting in a particularly hard shift carrying and filling more than 30! And it would be wrong not to mention Jas and Annie getting quickly attached to more village kids. After water appreciation, we headed back to Popes for a short break before heading back out to Shariani school for some permaculture. We worked with the children to clean and maintain their amazing garden in the school ground by sweeping away any mess and sorting logs in the corner of the garden. To finish the day, we headed up to the Ridge for pizza night and games with familiar faces like Safari and Cam. After Nico and Teddy consumed their weight in pizza, heated games of killer on the darts board, pool, foosball and boules carried on late into the evening before a sleepy ride home to Bahari Hai. Excited for Safari, stay in the loop!
