9th February - Tassilo

After an early wake up the whole group went to Mombasa to explore the local markets. There we were challenged to buy 6 different types of items with a budget of Ksh 1500 which is around 10 pounds. By using our haggling skills we tried spending as little as possible while still acquiring products which would meet the expectations of the judges. Although we encountered some rather unpleasant smells while making our way through the”fresh meat” section of the market all teams ended up with cool items such as football jerseys, a funky hat and a gift for the staff at Popes. After our little team competition, everyone was ordered to purchase the most horrific outfit they could curate out of the fashion available at the market, which would later be swapped at random with another person and had to be worn during the evening. 

After we had finished our market experience we migrated to a wonderful Italian restaurant where everyone rewarded themselves with great cuisine. 

With full bags from the market and full bellies due to the lovely food, we made our way back to try on whatever atrocities our randomly chosen partners had picked out for us. This ended in a full on runway show including garments which scar me to this day. 

Other than that it was a very calm and relaxing day during which all of us had the greatest of times.
