Friday 19th January - Lola

We started the day on fabulous form as we had our first early night of the trip. We had some delicious pancakes to fuel us up for the day ahead! We then drove to future hope school and had a tour of all the classrooms where all the children greeted us. We then were split into groups of 3 and each group did a different activity with the children. My group played duck duck goose and had a sack race, other groups played football and read to the children. We then all grouped together and played with the children. They were very funny and loved to play with our hair and were fascinated by our phones! After the children we then chilled at popes and had an amazing lunch! Then we went to help the local ladies plant seeds for their gardens which is called permaculture which is extremely hard work, especially in 35° heat!!! When we got back to popes we got ready for the office party! There was a darts competition which was great fun. We then danced the night away to abba and Aretha Franklin with Omar!

Oceans Alive says:

So wonderful to see how much the team is getting involved in the wide range of activities. Future Hope School is an English-speaking school for destitute children and children affected by HIV. It is a wonderful charity and makes a massive contribution to extremely vulnerable and needy children. Well done for pulling a shift at the permaculture project; the community were seriously impressed.
