Friday 26th January - Harry
We started the day off by heading to the local school called future hope and we did a range of different activities in our 3 groups throughout the morning. My group called Kasa started off by making puzzles with the children then followed by the nail hanging bottle game. This is a game that involves having a nail on a piece of string around your waist and the purpose is to get the nail into the bottle without using your hands. It was very tricky! We also read stories to the children and some of the other groups did various other activities with the children like drawing and colouring.
After the school visit we headed back to popes and we had an amazing lunch! After lunch we had a Swahili lesson with Juma, where we learnt the names of different animals that we could potentially see on safari.
Throughout the rest of the afternoon we were packing and preparing for the safari the next day - which we are all so excited for! We also got the opportunity to play volleyball with some of the office staff on the beach which got very intense but it was great fun. Next up we enjoyed the wonderful birthday celebrations for Des, in which a delicious chicken and rice meal was cooked up for everyone present, followed by an incredible turtle themed cake. This marked the end of a great day, before most of us headed for an early bed due to tomorrows early safari wake up.
