Thursday 25th January - Phoebe

Today was a fun filled day. We started off by heading down to Vipingo beach where we split off into two groups. One group helped make plugs for the coral and the other group went into the sea to clean the coral tables. This was a very fulfilling and therapeutic activity which everyone enjoyed. Afterwards we had a drink and some chips at the beach bar, which was a nice treat. Then we headed back to Pope’s for a bit of free time to go in the pool and sunbathe before lunch. Lunch was burgers and chips which was a massive hit!! 

After a filling lunch we had a bit more free time to go to the beach, swim, watch a film etc. We then went to the market down the road which happens every Thursday. Before going to the market, we all decided on having a fancy dress (shit shirt) night where we would pair up and buy each other a funny outfit.This was a huge success and such a fun experience. The Swahili lessons we have been having really came in handy when bargaining with sellers and was good practice. 

We then had a very yummy spag bowl and a couple of drinks. Later on we then headed down to the beach for some Scottish reeling to celebrate Burns Night. To end the night we sat around the bonfire watched the full moon. Overall it was a very enjoyable day full of exciting activities and was personally one of my favourite days having been in Kenya.
