17th June - Maddie

 We started the day waking up at Luca’s house and having a late breakfast with the kind of classic American food I’ve been missing. Luca’s house is right on the beach and it was nice to sit out at this beautiful place eating with friends with the sound of the ocean in the background. 

We packed up our stuff and walked to Salty’s, the bar/restaurant down the beach. I got the spicy octopus, which was delicious, though everyone stole off my plate. 

We said goodbye to Luca since he was heading back the U.S. the next day, and piled six people into the car meant to hold five. After an hour drive back to Kuruwitu, everyone was exhausted. Most people went to take naps or chill out in their rooms and we reconvened for an early dinner.
