Friday 9th Feb - Madison
Today was very easy going with everyone starting their day as they pleased. Some went scuba diving, some went to Future Hope school, and others had a restful morning at Popes. Afterwards, we all had a nice lunch and few hours to relax. Then we split into groups for our afternoon activity.
One group went on a clear-bottomed boat ride while the other went to the caves. The caves were an intense experience for many of us. As we walked through them, our guide, Safari, and Shae explained the relevance of the caves: historically, they were used to hold enslaved people awaiting transport during the slave trade in the 1500’s; and spiritually, they are thought to contain a holy spring and allow people to communicate more directly with God. The boat trip which I went on the day before was very fun and we all ended up jumping off to snorkel. After, we went back to Popes for dinner and an early night.
